Who they were
A quiet, generous man who loved his family, his prayers, and the cricket. He came to East London in 1964 with very little and built a life around hard work and gentle company.
Early life
Born in a Sylheti village, he was the eldest of six. He left for Britain at twenty-two with a suitcase and an address scrawled on a piece of paper.

Career and community
Worked as a tailor on Brick Lane for forty-one years. Could measure a man's shoulders by eye and have a suit cut by Friday.
Served on the mosque committee for two decades, opened his shop to anyone needing a thoub for Eid.
